Why Tool-Free Dovetails?

Standard consumer electronics use brittle snap hooks or hidden screws under rubber feet that strip or break during battery replacement. The SC-32 uses continuous industrial dovetail tracks running the entire length of the chassis. It disassembles smoothly by sliding the top cap, allowing instantaneous battery swap with zero tools.

Step-by-Step Hardware Assembly

Follow these 5 steps to assemble the physical SC-32.

1
Base Enclosure Preparation:

Place the ergonomic base enclosure flat on your workspace. The enclosure features a continuous 1.6° typing angle and dual anti-wobble desk pads.

2
Slide the Motherboard Core:

Slide the PCB assembly (featuring the Raspberry Pi RP2350 microcontroller and transflective monochrome graphic LCD) into the lower dovetail channel from the top opening until it bottoms out against the lower retention stop.

3
Lay the Tactile TPU Membrane:

Slide the flexible Shore 95A TPU key membrane over the motherboard. The 43 integral button dish plungers align directly over the gold-plated snap-dome switches on the PCB.

4
Slide the Laser-Engraved Faceplate:

Slide the rigid satin faceplate down along the outer dovetail tracks. The keycap cutouts hold each tactile dome centered while the upper window frames the reflective LCD perfectly.

5
Lock with the Top Cap:

Slide the retaining top cap horizontally across the top bezel until it snaps into the locking detents. The unit is now mechanically locked and drop-tested to 1.5 meters onto concrete.
